Our company’s origin extends back to the mid-1960s when, as a young teenager, Allan worked summers, weekends, and even after school as a carpenter’s helper framing new houses. From the age of 15 until his early college years, Allan learned first-hand the basics of how a home’s structure was put together. Allan attended the University of Houston where he majored in mathematics, and by the young age of 23 his love of construction, as well as his desire to build a business, led him to start his home building company.
Allan established the company in 1974 and was soon constructing five to seven homes annually in the FM 1960 area. By 1980, the company was building 10-12 homes annually, but by the mid ‘80s the local economy slowed down considerably. Allan adjusted to this new market by moving away from spec building and focusing instead on custom building homes for our clients. This important shift in business reduced the number of homes we built annually, but it elevated the time and attention we could dedicate to each of our customers.
The 1990s saw a robust rebound, which allowed us to resume the original passion of Allan Edwards Builder, Inc. - building a handful of exclusive custom homes each year. This personalize dedication we give each of our homeowners has continued into the new millennium.
Now as Allan enters his fifth decade of his home-building journey, we continue to carry a steadfast approach into every house we build – delivering a superior product with trust, integrity and excellence.
